Vampire-Human Relationships..

okay so, theres been the romantic relationships such as in Carmilla, Miss Massingberd and the Vampire,  Fleur de Fur, Dead until Dark, & Let the Right one In, oh and Twilight.
Carmilla: Deadly. a lesbian vampire who wants to kill and hurt her lover. the human does not agree with this
verdict UNHEALTHY.
Miss Massingberd and the Vampire: weird love at first sight. no harm done. marriage later, to a human, but cheats on him (sortof) at night when she goes to stare at that vampire. but humans are polygamous…
verdict SOMEWHAT UNHEALTHY.
Dead Until Dark: Sookie and Bill. hmm well, they do love each other, and Bill does try to take care of her even gives her a bodyguard. But. he drags her into the vampire world, although she kinda asked for it. and gets Renee mad at her. …although he eventually dies — Renee. but still her grandma died 😦
verdict UNHEALTHY
Let the Right One In: Eli & Oskar. She is rather nice, but she kills people. She saves him from the bullies, but she kills people. Oskar gains confidence and ability to feel better about himself, but falls in love with a vampire. The grown ups can’t take care of him, but Eli can. Its the only person he feels happiness with. but she kills people ah. oh and shes going to grow up and he won’t, unless he turns into a vampire 😮
verdict HEALTHY. i approve 🙂
Twilight: A vegetarian vampire, who promises her not to hurt her, but does not completely trust himself. How can you trust someone when they don’t trust themselves? hahah. but we all know he never hurts her, and treats her like a queen. hmmm, but he also drags her into the vampire world. and brings her into many life death situations. also pulls her away from the human world, not that she really fit in it anyway. LOL.
verdict. HEALTHY , she turns into one anyway so oh well.

what the hell…

its only 43 seconds on a protest against “Twilight” of people who think they are real vampires, and the ones in the book are not portrayed correctly.

I couldn’t figure out how to paste the video, but this worries me. do ppl really think they’re vampires, i mean really, grow up!. “vampires are suppose to be monstrous” blah blah. Its just a damn book. no big deal, get over it.  these people get me angry. and i cant believe Twilight caused such a big protest. Big babies…

Dream

So a couple of days ago, i dreamed i was being attacked by vampires, well more like running away from them. I wrote it down in my dream book, but haven’t had time to blog. I think it was because i was reading about vampires the night before but, heres what the dream analysis i found online says:

Umm…. i didnt think any of those applied to me; my relationship seems fine, i dont think im being selfish, but then would i know if  i was being selfish? LOL. no drugs, no obsession. just a little fear. those things were vicious. i don’t like being frightened.

Let The Right One In

This was a GREAT book. The only one I’ve liked.  The others were written boring, here you sense darkness. The way its written, is great. i like the use language, idk how to explain it. it didnt have too much fantasy, or i didnt see it as the main idea that made it kiddish.  it wasnt scary, but interesting and twisted. i really liked it.

Salem’s Lot

i really didn’t like this book, in spite of Stephen King being so cool and all, it was dry to me. it was beyond boring, i thought Dracula was more interesting. the only part i liked although it really really frustrated me because i didn’t know who the author was referring to was theprologue. the boy and the tall man. UGH. haha but i got who it was halfway through the book.  and i absolutely loved this first part of the Marsten House quote by Shirley Jackson: ” No live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality..”  i put this on my facebook status (: but anyway. the book was lame, although i did like the sick characters, such as that woman who beat up her baby,”wake up you little shit” 321 LMAO and the sick dumpster guy, also the scene with Reggie Sawyer, Corey Bryant, and Bonnie Sawyer, “We’re almost best buddies, I’ve been getting your sloppy seconds isn’t that right?” 346. LOL.  and Mark, he was badass. My idol, who can take on anything, and anybody. Other than that, the book dragged on, just not my taste.

Miss Massingberd & the vampire

My favorite short story, although i did not really get it all together. Here’s what i assume, she falls in love with the vampire, but the vampire makes her fall in love with the priest? okay we’ll find out tomorrow in class. Then she cheats on her husband by going outside to let the vampire feed on her, but its totally normal for her husband and even tells her to take her pills. weird… but cool. I’m down with polygamy. LOL humans tend to have eyes for more than one person, i mean its natural right? in the most respectful way, but hey, he’s not human, does that make it okay now LOL, i guess it does for him.  In the end they’re all happy and that’s what matters am i right? The vampire gets blood, the woman gets her two men, and the husband its completely happy with his wife, liberal as far as sharing her blood. YAY. 🙂

the spike, the heart, holy water and the sunrise also kill the vampire here. i think it its also about two lovers a human and a vampire. not entirely sure on that one.

Compare the vampire figure—and the vampire story as a genre—in Dracula to the vampire figure in either Varney or Carmilla.  What similarities and differences do you find?  Explain the significance of those differences and similarities, or develop a theory as to their cause.

I’d like to use Carmilla, there were many similarities in the background which i thought were interesting.
